Constant perspective exists because of the point-and-click nature of Diablo play. Third-person games with free cameras generally require actual target selection mechanics - you'll note that all of GW's skills are targetted (either explicit targets or implied targets like self-cast, all party members, PBAoE, etc.). Things like free-range teleporting would be awkward (impossible?) with an adjustable camera.

With D2 and LoD released on the 29th of June and D3 announced on the eve of that same date, it's somewhat likely this release date continues.

Well, I dont think they would make us wait another 2 to 4 years for this game

with the trailer and the website, and the gameplay vids, thats unlikey

I know this: guild wars came soon, and so did Diablo, diablo II and I think III will follow.

My bet is maybe the 29th of july, or 2008 dec 31st.

The addiction of diablo is hard to explain because in the end its point-clickclick-loot without much involvement of brainpower, but it's god damn addictive all the same.

Because it's Blizzard, duh. Even if I wanted, I couldn't describe what I love most in Diablo 2. Ever.

Well, I think it's worth signing this petition. I already did...

The best thing worth implementing from D2 is light radius. It gave people an illusion of safety. The shadowed monsters in the dark, incoming radius from a boss' aura... Good old times. That's why using maphacks removing the radius destroys the atmosphere.

I'm not signing the petition I'm afraid. I agree with the art direction, and they've given good reasons for it too. Without more to go on than the few videos and screenshots I'm giving the creators the benifit of the doubt.

The whining hordes of Guru, discontent with every facet of Guild Wars, consider Diablo II a shining gem of timelessness. That should tell you a lot right there.

Diablo III has a lot to deliver, but certainly the capability.

Next thing tell me you didn't watch the first Matrix or the LotR (all, they were all very very good... surprise, because almost all sequels are inferior to previous movies).

Maaaybe because it is timeless classic. But name me one Blizzard game that isn't. Not counting WoW, it's too young. They don't make many games, but when they do, heavens shake.

And besides, not many 5+ year old games are that popular.

Oh no, your telling me Diablo 3 is gonna fail extremely hard?

Because Matrix 2 & 3 were terrible and together arn't even 1/4 the movie the first was.
